Civil sector appeals to the government regarding the constitutional amendments - NGOs urge the management team to wait for the Venice Commission"s conclusions and only after that adopt the constitution.
A joint statement is signed by ten organizations.
"Otherwise, it can significantly offset the international reputation of Georgia," the statement reads.
According to civil sector, if the authorities do not take into consideration the recommendations of the Venice Commission, the legitimacy of constitutional amendments will be under question.
Non-governmental organizations emphasize the threat of the country"s European integration.
"We have seen two quite strict statements by the Chairman and the Secretary of the Venice Commission who are disappointed that the transition to the proportional system for 2020 will not take place and on the other hand, they advice the authorities to wait for the final assessment,"- says Levan Natroshvili, the representative of " Transparency International Georgia."
