US and UK citizens detained by the occupation regime have been released. The information is confirmed by the State Security Service of Georgia.

The detained British and US citizens were tourism specialists who were traveling from Astana to Tbilisi by bicycle.

"Despite the warnings of Georgian police officers, the foreign tourists entered the territory of South Ossetia, which is violation of the legislation of the republic," reads the statement of the facto security service.

"Sputnik" writes that the trial of American and British citizens was held yesterday at the Akhalgori District Court. The detainees traveled by Astana-Astrakhan-Baku-Derbent-Tbilisi route.

The EU Monitoring Mission was also involved in the process of their release.
