The Analytical Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs has released a report on tourism to Georgia in the past month. The report shows a 9% decline from last year"s numbers.
In total, 309 467 people crossed the border to Georgia in January. 36 % of them were tourists. 18.8% were in transit, and 45.2% were other visitors.
While the rate of tourism has decreased by 9%, the amount who entered Georgia in transit has increased by 9% percent.
The majority of tourism to Georgia comes from Turkey, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Russia and Ukraine.
