Tamaz Mechiauri to become Mayor of Tianeti

The Court of Appeals upheld the Mtskheta District Court"s ruling on Tamaz Mechiauri case. The Court of Appeals has not satisfied the complaint of the NGO "International Center for Democratic Initiatives".

As a result of the Court of Appeal"s ruling, Tamaz Machiauri becomes the Mayor of Tianeti .

NGO "International Center for Democracy Initiative" has appealed the decision of the first instance according to which Tamaz Machiaauri won the local elections inTianeti.

The Mtskheta City Court abolished the Tianeti DEC resolution, according to which the winning candidate was Lela Kitesashvili. However, the Mtskheta District Court has revoked a decision to reopen the ballot papers and annul the second decree according to which, after re-counting invalid ballot papers, five votes were awarded to Georgian Dream"s candidate Lela Kitesashvili.
