Prior to the court"s verdict, the lawyer Goga Oniani spoke about the pressure on witnesses implemented by the Prosecutor"s Office.

According to Goga Oniani, the prosecution witness has informed the Ombudsman about a pressure by the Prosecutor"s Office. The Ombudsman gave testimony in a closed session.

Taking this fact into account, Oniani had hoped that he would be released. According to him, there is no evidence proving his guilt and the process is politically motivated.

The court sentenced Giorgi Oniani to 4 years and 6 months of imprisonment.
