Case of vandalism in Batumi - builders damaged the 11th-century pitcher

A case of vandalism in Batumi . An ancient pitcher was found on the construction site by builders, However before the representatives of the Cultural Heritage Protection Agency have arrived to the spot, the workers have damaged the pitcher.

Reportedly the vandals have been expecting to find treasure in the pitcher. This is not the first time when builders damage history of Georgia.

The archaeologists say that the pitcher belongs to 11th - 13th centuries. According to them the unique discovery is almost completely damaged.

The Director-General of the National Agency for Cultural Heritage Preservation has already responded to the fact. Nikoloz Antidze says that it is a criminal offence and therefore the investigation will start.

By this time, works in Tamari settlement in Batumi have been temporarily suspended.
