"Legalized Bribing for Political Loyalty" - 9 Judges of the Constitutional Court Received Million in 9 Months

The number of bonuses received by nine judges of the Constitutional Court in 9 months has reached a million.

The Constitutional Court of Georgia spent 312 532 GEL on bonuses and supplements of the chairperson and 8 judges from January to September 2017. Out of this, the largest amount - 27 350 GEL was issued in March. No bonuses were issued in January or September. . The news agency "Interpressnews" has published the documentation.

The opposition responded to the fact saying that the government team paid a colossal amount of money to judges for making biased decisions in case of necessity.

"The 400 thousand spent only on bonuses and supplements, plus additional salary for 9 judges, is a very big and impressive amount. The government has no political will to regulate and settle this process. They have the Constitutional Cour in the pocket. It is often necessary to pay large amounts of money to them and we have got more serious cases when a bribe from the budget was given to Nazgaidze, "- said Irma Nadirashvili, member of" European Georgia ".

Members of the opposition call "legalized bribes" large amounts of bonuses and supplements received by members of the Constitutional Court.

"These judges perform political tasks of the" Georgian Dream ", accordingly, these colossal bonuses are legalized bribes paid for political loyalty. The state ensures that they live in luxury because they fulfill Ivanishvili"s tasks at the appropriate moment, "- said Zaza Bibilashvili, a member of the National Movement.

In the "Georgian Dream", it is said that the reform, which regulates salaries, supplements and bonuses of civil service officials, will eliminate the problem. Irakli Sesiashvili, a member of the parliamentary majority, remembered the period when National Movement party was in power and noted that at that time judges were given a lot of bonuses.

Members of the Constitutional Court, who had such high pay, were discussing various high-profile cases, including "Rustavi 2" and so-called " "Cables"

The opposition believes that judges of the Constitutional Court receive such high pay as a legal bribe for political commitment.

The ruling team will explain that changes will be made to the law on public remuneration of public servants and it will regulate this process.
