Pankisi People are against the HPP construction - locals talk about ecological catastrophe

People"s Protest in Pankisi - Village Birkiani population demands to stop construction of Khadori03. The locals argue that the 5-megawatt hydropower plant will leave the village without irrigation water and drinking water will be polluted.

According to residents of Birkani, water supply will be provided from the Khadori2 channel, which means that the river Alazani will be piped about 4.5 km before Birchikani.

The construction company believes that the statements of ecological disasters are absurd and are ready to provide more information to the population.

The Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture explains that the population will not have water and no ecological problems due to the construction of HPP.
