Drug users are persecuted by law enforcers - IDFI"s research

"Institute for Development of Freedom of Information" criticizes drug policy in the country.

IDFI has conducted a survey and assessed that law enforcement officers persecute drug users and use law only to punish them.

The survey is based on statistics prepared by the Ministry of Internal Affairs from 2014 to 2017.

The civil sector calls on legislative body to review the law.

"We conclude that these persons are being tested for their punishment, because the final result is punishment. There are no rehabilitation programs in the country and there are no prevention programs for such cases, "said Mariam Tutberidze, a representative of IDFI.
