"Aslan fled, Adjara is free!" - these historical words were said on May 6, 2004, at 3:00 pm. when 13-year rule of Aslan Abashidze ended in Adjara.

It has been preceded by marches and a number of demonstrations. The events in Adjara were strained after the bridges of Kakuti and Choloki were exploded at Abashidze"s order. From this day on calendar calculation of the end of Aslan Abashidze"s epoch began.
