NGOs working on human rights have responded to a large-scale special operation that took place on May 12 and talk about the serious violations of human rights by police.
The civil sector calls on the government:

"The issue of legal and political responsibility of the officials of the Ministry of Internal Affairs who planned and executed the operation with a clear demonstration of force and gross neglect of human rights, should be promptly raised.
The Chief Prosecutor"s Office of Georgia should launch an investigation on alleged suspicious detention of the participants, the possible abuse of police force; The government should properly consider the severe social consequences of the drastic policies to drug users and make it socially oriented rather than repressive and punitive. "- says the statement signed by 9 NGOs.
