Despite the tragic cases, labor safety is still not protected in the country - the civil sector is making another acute conclusion.

The Human Rights Learning and Monitoring Center speaks about the shortcomings that contribute to discriminatory approach and existing leverages cannot be used against concrete companies.

"The main discovery of the research is that the system that exists in the country is quite weak to implement equality and anti-discrimination policies. We have a mechanism of the Public Defender who does not have the full leverage for private sector in cases where it discovers discrimination.

The main problem is that the Labor Inspection Department that operates in the field of labor inspection does not have a mandate to enforce equality policy in labor relations.

Our main recommendation is that the Department of Labor Inspection will be given full mandate, "said Lana Gvinianidze, director of Social Policy Program of Human Rights Education and Monitoring Center.
