Special Operation in Likhauri Street - one Georgian and seven Ukrainian citizens were charged

One Georgian and seven citizens of Ukraine, who were detained as a result of the special operation held in Likhauri Street several days ago, have been officially charged. According to the lawyers, they do not recognize the accusation and wrote "Glory to Ukraine" on the document of charges against them.
According to human rights defenders, the defendants arrived in Georgia as tourists and have no connection with the crime.The court will discuss the possibility of imposing a restraint measure today.
The lawyers will raise the motion on release of the detainees in exchange for bail.
Simion Semerchenko, a Rada MP of Ukraine, was also present at the police headquarters where the accused were questioned. He evaluated the fact as a provocation.
As a result of the special operation, 8 detainees are accused of buying and keeping illegal firearms.
"I came to Georgia officially, as an observer of elections. The boys came here to relax and meet with friends. None of them have committed a crime. I met them every day and I can inform the Ministry of the Interior, where and whom they met, which friends they visited. But somehow the investigation is not interested , "- said Ryda MP, Semerchenko.
