The threats and challenges faced by Georgia have not been analyzed at the level of an official document over the last five years. The last such normative act was adopted by the government in 2010, which expired in 2013. The attempt to fill in the normative vacuum was undertaken by the Strategic Analysis Center of Georgia, where the country"s challenges were analyzed and specific recommendations were developed for the government. The members of the organization say that the document is of recommendation character. It consists of 4 main issues. Russia is still considered to be the main threat by the document. The report points out that Russia is trying to increase spheres of influence in Georgia.
"The Georgian government has not prepared a document of open threats for the last 5 years. This is the obligation by the law and it is a moral obligation to inform its citizens about the state of the threats and challenges facing the country. Regrettably, regardless of the article referred to in the law, this process is not taking place in Georgia. They say that they have a closed version but it is urgent for us to have an open version that is distributed to citizens. So we have created an initiative group. The analytical group wrote this document, "said Nodar Kharshiladze, founder of the Strategic Analysis Center (GSAC).
"It is not closed document intended for professional society only. This should be open, public discussion in the whole society, "said GSAC, founder and director of the Media Center, Giorgi Targamadze.
The discussion of the document is attended by civil society representatives as well as former senior officials. Former intelligence chief Gela Bezhuashvili says that this document prepared by analysts will help the state create the best possible way to analyze the threats of the country.
