The political party "Girchi" considers the absurd sentencing to 4 to 7 years of imprisonment for keeping personal information published in public space or sending it to a relative.
This article of the law has already been challenged in the Constitutional Court. One of the defendants, Ana Aroshidze filed a lawsuit together with the party.The applicant believes that dissemination of information, which is publicly available, can not be punishable and imposes lengthy detention.
"As you know, 16 people are threatened with 4 to 8 years of imprisonment because they have come across a personal record of one of the politicians in the Internet. Some have received, some have saved. It is full of madness.The state cannot punish anyone because of that. Generally, we believe that any information publicly placed on the Internet if it is downloaded or distributed otherwise can not be punished, "said Zurab Japaridze, a member of the political council of Girchy.
