France, as well as Germany and Sweden will not grant Georgian citizens political asylum, as Georgia is a trusted country - the statement was made by the French ambassador to Georgia.
Pascal Meunier calls on all countries to express this message clearly. According to the Ambassador, the French Border Police representatives will assist Georgian colleagues to prevent frequent return of citizens from the border.
"I think the Georgian government has taken into account the fact that people who are seeking asylum and are IDPs can harm Georgia"s image and question its relations with European countries.
As the Georgian Foreign Minister said, France as well as other countries, Germany and Sweden will not grant Georgian citizens political asylum because your country is recognized as a trusted country, "said Pascal Meunier.
