"We should remember that the devil separates" - Bidzina Ivanishvili releases open letter

"We should remember that the devil separates," - says the Chairman of Georgian Dreams in his open statement. Bidzina Ivanishvili speaks about the 30th anniversary of April 9 with an open letter and writes that April 9, 1989, determined the fate of Georgia and decided the country"s future.

" Saving our homeland from the Soviet empire, independence and freedom of Georgia - it was a great national idea surrounded by a whole nation. April 9, 1989 was the toughest, one of the most tragic days, but this day has become a symbol of our struggle for freedom and independence, "reads Ivanishvili"s letter.

The former Prime Minister that on April 9, 1991, as a logical result of this struggle, Zviad Gamsakhurdia announced the restoration of Georgian state independence. He writes that since the first days of independence, the emotions overweighed rationalism and "we have overwhelmed the elected government and moved the country to the chaos of bloody civil confrontation".

In his letter, Ivanishvili writes that on the background of emotions, the country, which was drowned in a swamp, choose a local dictator, who used to oppress public protests. According to him despite this, Georgian people gained an incredible victory on October 1, 2012.

"We have overthrown the elected government and moved the country into a chaos of bloody civil confrontation, then let the criminals crash our homeland, and then, gave a geostrategic function to our country and we knocked on NATO"s doors. But corruption and immorality led to the arrival of a dictator, which started to oppress public protests on Rustaveli Avenue.

On April 9, 2012, Georgia met the twenty-first year of Independence without even a trace of democracy, overcrowded prisons, silenced media, occupied territories and a cynical model of oriental tyranny, , which had a mask of democracy inside or outside the country." - the letter reads.
"In spite of this, on October 1, 2012, Georgian people gained an incredible victory.

The spirit of April 9 was born again this year, and for the seventh year, the country is governed by a policy, based on rationalism, which guaranteed continuous foreign and civil peace that is unprecedented in the history of independent Georgia.

But we still got a paradoxical situation: as usually, the economic development is followed by democratic progress and increase of standards of human rights in any democratic country.

As the government, which came in power as a result of the October elections provided a high standard of democracy and increased level of political rights, but our economic development has been objectively slower.

The forces, which want chaos to use this situation and enjoy democratic tools, established by us, speculate with economic problems and think about revenge,"- reads the statement.
