"This is not just another ordinary dispute, it"s possible that behind this dispute is, and very likely it is so, an important interest to change the editorial policy," is the assessment of the NGO "Georgia"s democratic initiative".
At this moment Rustavi 2 Director General is meeting with representatives of influential NGOs to inform them about the situation created around Rustavi2.
In addition, Nika Gvaramia held meetings with representatives of the international community. He had meetings with the US and the EU ambassadors.
According to Giorgi Mshvenieradze, this is not a regular dispute and there is an important interest behind it and this is to change an independent editorial policy .
"We are absolutely rightfully frightened by the experiences we have had from the disputes with Rustavi 2, behind which was the government and the aim of which was to control the editorial policy of this television. This is not just an ordinary dispute, it"s possible that behind this dispute is, and very likely it is so, an important interest to change the editorial policy. Your editorial independence and politics are very important for us, because if there is a critical voice in this country, including our voice, this is happening through Rustavi2, "said Giorgi Mshvenieradze.
Davit Sikharulidze, chairperson of the Atlantic Council of Georgia, called another dispute against Rustavi2 a "sad game". Sikharulidze sees an attempt to change Rustavi 2"s editorial policy.
"There is a substantiated doubt that this is another attempt to change Rustavi 2"s editorial policy. We remember such a case that happened not so long ago. If that was not for the European Court of Human Rights, today Rustavi 2 would not be what it is today. As for this particular moment, I think that it is very worrying, the result will be especially difficult for the future of Georgian democracy and Georgia. However, I am sure that this can not happen, "Davit Sikharulidze said.
Executive director of the Charter of Journalistic Ethics of Georgia, Nata Dzvelishvili, says that the media outlets in the country who expose the government in violation of law and corruption are facing problems.
"Today we see that Rustavi2 is such a television and it has problems and nobody believes that this is a private dispute and has no connection with politics , all of Rustavi2"s cases are related to politics," said Dzvelishvili.
