Coalition for "Independent and Transparent Judiciary" appeals to Irakli Kobakhidze and demands Parliament to terminate the authority of non-judge member of the Council of Justice Zaza Kharebava. According to the non-governmental organizations, Kharebava was presented in the council in violation of the law.
The fact is that the Kharebava`s candidacy was nominated by the NGO "Abkhazeti" to the Parliament, but later it became clear that the organization itself has never defended interests in the courts as the third party.
"The Parliament should be well aware that Mr. Kharebava"s documentation is not in line with the legislation but someone turned a blind eye to it. But now it is clear that he was nominated with a violation and accordingly the parliament"s regulations in this case envisage termination of his office. If he had enough professional integrity, he would leave this position himself to avoid this awkward decision to be taken by the Parliament, "said Giorgi Mshvenieradze, chairman of the NGO" Georgian Democratic Initiative ".
The executive director of Transparency International - Georgia is also demanding Zaza Kharebava"s resignation. According to Eka Gigauri, the parliament may have supported Kharebava due to certain interests. But as she said , now the legislature had a chance to correct this mistake.
