"Media belongs to the people and not the government" - demonstration in support of Rustavi 2 was held in Strasbourg. The permanent rallies have started from today.
"Defend Rustavi 2" - Under this slogan, the Georgian emigrants with will gather at the European Court of Human Rights for two weeks and will protest against restriction of freedom of speech. According to emigrants participating in the rally, "Rustavi 2" is the only independent media in the country and its closure in Georgia will result in killing the democracy.
"We are against the fact that free media in Georgia is controlled by the government. The media belongs to the people and not the government, "said Giorgi Metreveli, a rally participant.
The rally participants say that Rustavi 2 is the only independent media outlet in Georgia.
"Rustavi 2 is one of the free media in Georgia, which we believe and from where we get the right information ... From here we will send the message to everyone that Rustavi 2 is one of the independent TV stations in Georgia" - said one of the participants.
