Rustaveli Avenue is blocked. Participants of the rally protesting against the arrival of Russian MPs in Georgia blocked the way on Rustaveli Avenue. Russian Duma members arrived in Georgia yesterday to participate in the Inter-Parliamentary Assembly of Orthodoxy.
Today, anti-Georgian communist MP Sergei Gavrilov has addressed the Assembly members from the chairperson`s seat in the Parliament of Georgia. This fact has caused special public protest. The opposition and civil activists entered the meeting hall and did not allow the Russian lawmakers to continue the session.
A few minutes ago, Sergei Gavrilov and his colleagues were forced to leave the hotel and were taken to the airport with an enhanced security escort. They will leave Georgia in an hour.
