The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia has released a statement on the illegal borderization carried out by Russian occupants in Gugutiantkari.

It is said that such steps are extremely detrimental to the situation of people living near the occupation line. The letter reads that the Georgian side is actively working with the international community to take appropriate measures to stop this illegal activity.

"Such destructive steps are extremely detrimental to the already dire humanitarian situation for those citizens, who live near the occupation line and further destabilize the security environment.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs calls on the Russian Federation to stop its illegal actions against Georgia and to fulfil its international obligations, including the EU - brokered ceasefire agreement of 12 August 2008.
