Education Minister Mikheil Batiashvili is stepping down. Such statement the Prime Minister made at the governmental meeting.

According to Giorgi Gakharia, Mikheil Batiashvili has applied for resignation himself.

"It is the personal request of Mikheil Batiashvili to resign as the Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport. Of course, first of all, we should thank Mr. Mikheil for his hard work, for starting a systemic and extremely important reform, which is called a systemic reform of the education system, and of course, for the successes we had in recent years both in sports and culture", - said PM.

Its unknown who will replace Batiashvili on this post.
