The Ministry of Internal Affairs calls on the leaders of the political parties and the organizers of the rally to stop blocking the entrances of the Parliament building.

The ministry released a statement, saying that hindering the work of the Parliament is prohibited by the law.

“On November 17, during the rally and throughout the night, the police provided the necessary conditions for peaceful assembly and manifestation.

The rally in front of the Parliament building, on Rustaveli Avenue, later became illegal.

In particular, some participants of the rally blocked all entrances to the legislative body. Furthermore, political leaders openly called on supporters to hider the work of the Parliament.

Despite numerous calls and warnings from the Ministry of the Internal Affairs, the freedom of expression and assembly went beyond the law.

We would like to emphasize that it is prohibited to block the entrances of a legislative body as well as to interfere with the Parliament’s work.

The MIA calls on the leaders of the political parties and the organizers of the protest rally to stop blocking the entrances of the Parliament, to obey the Constitution and not to go beyond the law.

We once again call on the rally organizers and participants of the rally to obey the lawful demands of the police.

In case of any attempts of storming or blocking administrative agencies, the police will respond properly within the mandate provided by law”, - reads the statement.
