Policemen in the village of Lajana, Tsageri region have opened fire at each other.

Two police officers have died and one injured in shooting. The injured man has been transported to the hospital. He was attempting to break up a fight between the policemen.

The motive for the killing is still unknown. According to witnesses, the shooting was preceded by verbal altercation which turned into a violent conflict.

As it known, one of the policemen who died in the confrontation is the son-in-law of Carlo Kopaliani, the Deputy of ruling party Georgian Dream.

The investigation was launched by the Investigation Division of the Western Georgia District Prosecutor’s Office under Article 108, which implies intentional killing under aggravating circumstances.
