Zurab Chiaberashvili, a member of European Georgia, commented on the health minister Eka Tikaradze’s statement regarding the flu virus.

According to him, there is still mistrust in the public regarding the appropriateness of vaccination: “Unfortunately, the statement by the Health Minister has shaken public confidence in general immunization”.

A member of European Georgia also praised the statement made by Amiran Gamkrelidze, Head of the National Center for Disease Control. He called on the center to launch a large-scale public awareness campaign on the immunization programme.

Chiaberashvili also commented on Tikaradze’s statement on access to medicines.
“The implementation of this vision, which involves direct Government interference in the pricing of medicines, is merely populism and worsens the situation”, - thinks the representative of opposition party.

The Minister of Health Ekaterine Tikaradze said that there is no need for compulsory vaccination against the flu virus.
