The meeting with the heads of “Kavkasia” “TV Pirveli is over at the Ministry of Finance.
The management of the broadcasting company “Rustavi 2” was not invited to the meeting. The Ministry of Finance of Georgia collected 3 TV companies – “Rustavi 2”, “Kavkasia” and “TV Pirveli” on Wednesday.
As Nino Jangirashvili, the Director of Kavkasia TV, said, her categorical demand was that collection of payments be cancelled for all TV stations. She demanded that all TV companies be equally treated: “They should declare moratorium and then we should figure out how to ensure that everyone is in equal conditions”.
Inga Grigolia, the Director of TV Pirveli, has left the meeting in Protest.
“The Finance Minister had no answer to our questions. I left the meeting in protest, because it was just a formal meeting between the Minister and the media, I couldn"t really sit down for that. The Minister, who was instructed to simply make this decision, instead of answering out questions of why he put us in such unfair conditions, told us a long and never-ending stories about other TVs. For me the meeting was very uninteresting. I’m not going to listen to the Minister"s demagogy, especially since he had no answers”, - explained Grigolia.
Natia Kuprashvili, chairperson of the Eastern Partnership and Journalism Resource Center, also attended the meeting.
