The political union Lelo accuses the court of targeted political persecution against Mamuka Khazaradze and Badri Japaridze.
According to one of its leaders Kakha Kozhoridze, “the processes in this case are extremely accelerated, which is yet another proof that the case is politically motivated."
As Kozhoridze said, Lelo is going to appeal to the court and ask some questions.
“The first question is to the judge Giorgi Arevadze. Has it ever been in his judicial practice to preside over 20 court sessions in two months?
We had a very strong start, and shortly after that, on December 27, judge Arevadze appointed the court sessions. We have about 18 hearings in January-February and the party chairman and secretary have to go to the courthouse practically every other day.
The purpose of launching the Khazaradze - Japaridze case was to neutralize the political activity of Mamuka Khazaradze and Badri Japaridze.
I would also like to tell you that at the last hearing, lawyer Eka Egutia filed a motion to postpone a hearing, but the judge rejected the motion. Avtandil Tsereteli’s motion on the postponement of the trial due to his health condition was also rejected”, - said Kozhoridze.
