A cause of a 22-year-old woman’s death in Zugdidi has been pinpointed after a forensic examination, with the influenza B virus being the cause of death.

“The information that the 22-year-old died of coronavirus is not the truth. The taken sample was sent to Lugar Laboratory, and the influenza B virus proved to be the cause of her death. It has been the third case of a patient dying of the virus this season”, - said Amiran Gamkrelidze, the Head of the National Centre for Disease Control.

The young woman was taken to Zugdidi Referral Hospital on January 20 and transported to Kutaisi later. She died on January 22.
