The Synod should introduce the toughest ecclesiastical sentence for men subjecting women to violence - Deacon Tamaz Lomidze

Deacon Tamaz Lomidze urges the Synod to introduce a stiff sentence for men prone to violence. He posted on his Facebook page, that the Orthodox Church of Georgia must adopt a firm stance against men inclined to violence.

“I have reiterated this, and once again, I repeat that in addition to a strong and consistent response of the Government, the Orthodox Church of Georgia should adopt a firm stance against men inclined to violence. It must condemn and denounce any violence against women and immediately introduce the toughest ecclesiastical sentence for men subjecting women to violence.

Besides, all dioceses must start raising public awareness when it comes to men’s obligations before women and their spouses, even if their spouses no longer want to live with them under one roof.

Today, a great number of self-centered men know next to nothing when it comes to dealing with women. The Church must change this with no ifs, ands, or buts as changing this is paramount today”, - wrote the Deacon.
