Several injured after car crashes into carnival crowd in Germany

Several people are injured after a car crashed into a crowd at a carnival procession in Volkmarsen.

The incident took place on Monday, the driver has been arrested.

According to police, it was too early to confirm what caused the car to crash on the south side of the town, outside a supermarket.

Police and ambulance services rushed to the scene.

Amateur video footage showed a silver Mercedes station wagon with local licence plates and its hazard lights blinking on the pavement while emergency crews walked by.
