Volodymyr Zelensky, the President of Ukraine, assesses the decision of the Government of Georgia to summon the Ambassador of Georgia to Ukraine for consultations as a mistake.
“We have very good relations with the Georgian people. Despite all this, we will not recall our own ambassador for such consultations, because the relationship between our countries is longer than any government in the country. I think this is a mistake on the part of Georgia.
I hope that after the consultations, the parties will understand that the state personnel policy applies only to him and his citizens.
This is our decision and our domestic policy. Mikheil Saakashvili is a citizen of Ukraine, he has a Ukrainian passport. I, the President of Ukraine, have appointed him as then Chairman of the Council for Reforms under the President. That’s all”, - concluded Volodymyr Zelensky.
Georgian Ambassador Plenipotentiary to Ukraine Teimuraz Sharashenidze will be recalled for consultations in Tbilisi, said Davit Zalkaliani, Georgian Minister of Foreign Affairs.
