I have no doubt that the strategic partnership with Georgia remains strong, – said the Ambassador of the United States to Georgia, Kelly Degnan.
“I’ve not seen the document, I was in Gori and I don’t know the details. When there was communication in the Congress, it was because they are actively observing Georgia, they care about Georgia, they recognize the importance of Georgia and they want Georgia to be successful. The strategic partnership we have is of key importance for both countries.
We have made many investments to build a mutual partnership. Cooperation in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic is a good example. The Government coped very well with this crisis and we are proud to work with Georgia. The state of emergency was well managed here to enable economic development. We want to assist Georgia. So, I have no doubt that the strategic partnership with Georgia remains strong…
As for the report of 13 congressmen, this is not an official position of the U.S. I cannot speak on behalf of the legislative branch of my government. I represent another branch. You should ask this question to Congress. I know that the United States is looking for ways to work with Georgia, and we will continue to take many initiatives with Georgia because we believe in Georgia’s future and success. By being here, we emphasize our commitment to Georgia’s territorial integrity and sovereignty”, - concluded Degnan.
