The President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky says that he is not afraid that Mikheil Saakashvili, who now chairs the executive committee of Ukraine’s National Reforms Council, may one day oppose him as he did former Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko.
“Unlike Poroshenko, I’ve never been Saakashvili’s friend. However, everything is possible.
I offered Saakashvili the Ukrainian Vice PM’s post for reforms. However, the Servant for the People’s party went against the decision. Before making the offer Saakashvili said that he was ready to support him and came with several appropriate pieces of advice.
I initially offered him to be my advisor for reforms. However, Saakashvili said that the post was not for him and stated that he could be engaged with reforms in the government as the Vice PM”, - said Zelensky.
He added that he restored Saakashvili’s Ukrainian citizenship “as it was fair”.
