The extradition of the wanted person for negligent manslaughter from the Czech Republic was carried our - General Prosecutor’s Office

Based on the request of the General Prosecutor’s Office of Georgia and by the employees of the Special Penitentiary Service of the Ministry of Justice of Georgia, G.L., wanted and convicted of negligent manslaughter by Georgian law enforcement agencies, was extradited to Georgia from the Czech Republic.


According to the sentence of the Supreme Court of Georgia, G.L. was found guilty under Article 116 §1 of the Criminal Code of Georgia and an international search was announced for him by the Interpol Red Notice.


The court confirmed that on January 10, 2016, while skiing on the track, so-called “Kudebi 3”, in Gudauri ski resort, G.L. ignored the precautionary norms, did not control his movement, did not conform the speed and maneuverability of the existing conditions and environment, did not select a safe route and distance for the previous skier and G.L. collided from behind, with a 12-year-old minor, S.T., who was sliding on the same ski track with great speed, who died on the spot due to the injuries received as a result of the collision.


The law enforcement agencies of the Czech Republic detained G.L., wanted by Georgia. Accordingly, the General Prosecutor’s Office of Georgia appealed to the Ministry of Justice of the Czech Republic with the request of his extradition.


The request of the Georgian side was fully satisfied by the competent authorities of the Czech Republic, and as a result of the effective cooperation between the parties, the G.L. was transferred to Georgia.
