Ukrainian Foreign Ministry expresses concern over Ukraine’s response to Mikheil Saakashvili’s statements. According to the Minister of Foreign Affairs Dmytro Kuleba, a private person’s remarks won’t break-up the relations between our people and countries.
“The situation about Saakashvili is unfortunate because he’s a citizen of Ukraine who isn’t responsible for expressing the government’s position and actively comments on the existing pre-elections situation in Georgia.
His every statement ends with Ukrainian Ambassador being summoned in Georgian MFA where they raise concerns about Saakashvili’s remarks. The disbalance is the following - a state becomes responsible for a private individual’s acts.
I understand the sensitive situation in which Georgian finds itself before the elections and appreciates the friendship with Georgian partners. We hope that the relations will stabilize because a private person’s statements won’t break-up the relations between our people and countries.
Our position is quite clear - Saakasvhili is a private person who doesn’t represent Ukraine”, - concluded the Minister.
