Georgian diplomats did the impossible – Zalkaliani on UN resolution

Georgia has never had this kind of support, said the Minister of Foreign Affairs Davit Zalkaliani while commenting the UNGA resolution.

“Despite the pandemic restrictions, Georgia was able to do its best and once again gained support for a paramount resolution. This resolution deserved unprecedented support - 84 in favor, 13 against, and 78 abstentions. The number of opponents has also decreased significantly. It dropped from 15 to 13 this year.

The resolution reiterated the right of return of all IDPs and refugees to Georgia’s Abkhazia and Tskhinvali Region/South Ossetia. While the UN suspended work amid pandemic, Georgian diplomats did the impossible and used all the mechanisms to the fullest”, - said Davit Zalkaliani.
