The election administration recommends that voters in quarantined areas have the opportunity to participate in the elections. Such a statement made today CEC spokesperson Ana Mikeladze.
“It is possible that there were COVID infected patients in the quarantine areas who would not have any symptoms. In this case, the election administration will have to make certain differentiation, but the main aspect is to note that a decision has not been made yet.
Specialists, political parties and observer organizations will be involved in any decision upon the participation of coronavirus - patients in the elections. It should be emphasized that elections should be conducted in a health-safe environment. Every citizen must have the right to participate in the elections, but at the same time the people who are involved in this process (members of the district election commission, observers, representatives of political parties, the media) should be taken into account.
A polling station may be opened in the quarantine zones and it is also possible to have a mobile ballot box. The decision depends on the number of voters in the quarantine zones”, - said Ana Mikeladze.
