The US State Department released information regarding the meeting of Mike Pompeo with the President of Georgia Salome Zourabichvili.
“Secretary of State Michael R. Pompeo met today with Georgian President Salome Zourabichvili in Tbilisi, Georgia. Secretary Pompeo and President Zourabichvili discussed the importance of U.S.-Georgia security cooperation. Secretary Pompeo reiterated the importance of free and fair elections and the essential role of an independent judiciary in a democracy andurged Georgia to take strong measures against the spread of COVID-19. The Secretary thanked Georgia for its support of the OSCE Minsk Group process for resolving the conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan and reaffirmed unwavering U.S. support for Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity in the face of Russian occupation”, - reads the statement.
