Attacker of microfinance organization Levan Zurabashvil, who took hostages and demanded changes to the country’s legislation concerning loan issuance and gambling, sentenced to imprisonment.
At today’s trial, the defense asked for Zurabashvili’s release on 1,000 GEL bail.
“My client did not pose a threat to anyone. He wanted the protest to be made public and journalists to come to hear his position. As soon as he entered the building, he said, do not be afraid, I will fight for you”, - said Giorgi Chochua, Zurabashvili’s lawyer.
On November 20, on Tsereteli Ave, Tbilisi, Levan Zurabashvili, broke into MBC building and took 11 hostages and voiced three demands in the video.
A psychiatric examination is scheduled for the case. The investigation is underway under the Part 2 of Article 144 of the Criminal Code.
