Two employees of penitentiary institution No. 8 in Tbilisi Levan Gelashvili and Shalva Margvelashvili, who were earlier charged with negligence which resulted in an attack on Giorgi Rurua, have been denied bail by Tbilisi City Court.

The Prosecutor demanded that they be sent to jail, while the defense wanted the judge to impose GEL 2,000 bail on each, but the judge declined the motion.

Giorgi Rurua was attacked by other convicts in prison on November 2, 2020. The convicts who attacked him were immediately placed in a strict regime prison.

Rurua, who was detained for illegal possession and carrying of firearms on November, 2019, has been sentenced to 4 years in prison.
