Eight drug-related dose amendments to be voted by the Parliament in first reading today. Yesterday the Health Care and Social Issues Committee discussed with the I reading the bill on Narcotic Means, Psychological Agents, Precursors and Narcological Aid initiated by Mikheil Sarkveladze, Tea Tsulukiani, Alexander Tabatadze, Davit Sergeenko, Aluda Gudushauri, Dimitri Khundadze and Vladimir Kakhadze.


The reporter, MIkheil Sarjveladze introduced the precondition entailing the changes to the law: every one shall realize that the bill does not aim to the legalization and decriminalization of the drugs but the changes specify the small, large and extremely large amount and dozes of the drugs subject to the special control as stipulated in the Annex N2, and hence, specifies the responsibilities.


These are 8 agents that are under special control: amphetamine, desomorphine (so-called “Crocodile”), LSD, MDMA (so-called “ecstasy”), efedronine, methamphetamine, methadone and heroin, the consequences of use of which are damaging for life and health. The measure for the dozes are used the amount of one doze used by the episodic user, which shall be calculated per agent in the form of the pure substance.
