The Speaker, Archil Talakvadze held the meeting with the UK Minister for European Neighbourhood and the Americas at the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, Wendy Morton to discuss the strategic cooperation and reaffirm that Georgia and the UK share the common values and principles.
As noted, Georgia is a reliable partner and highly contributes to global security, also successfully counters international terrorism, organized crime and cyber-threats.
The parties discussed the social and economic directions and stressed the pandemic crisis and the importance of equal access to vaccines. As the parties stated, restoration of the trade-economic links and tourism is a priority in the post-pandemic period. The parties overviewed the situation on the occupied territories of Georgia and underlined the importance of the ECHR Order. The parties emphasized the inter-Parliamentary cooperation.
Talakvadze informed the British guest about the foreign priorities of Georgia stipulated under the Resolution and the Parliamentary agenda. According to him, the Parliament is a leading institution in terms of openness and transparency. Morton reaffirmed intact support to the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Georgia.
