The HPPs in Georgia are crucial for the country’s energy independence. PM said about 40% of electricity generation comes to the Enguri HPP. Such a statement made today the Prime Minister of Georgia.
Irakli Garibashvili observed large-scale works on Enguri HPP and underlined that no such extensive works were carried out for more than 20 years.
“Enguri HPP has always been a major employer in Samegrelo. It has 1 200 permanent employees and an additional 650 workers. The rehabilitation project costs EUR 43 million, including the European Commission’s EUR 7 million grant, and the rest is an EBRD loan. The works kicked off in January and will complete by the end of May”, - added the Head of the Government.
