The First Deputy Head of the State Security Service, Alexi Batiashvili, presents the 2020 report of the agency at the joint sitting of committees in the Parliament.
According to Batiashvili, foreign special services, through activities or campaigns directed or financed by them, sought to directly or indirectly interfere in domestic political processes and public life of Georgia. They also aimed to disrupt the constitutional order and the functioning of state systems.
“There were attempts to influence important processes and create unrest. There were also actions aimed at dividing and polarizing the population by manipulating public opinion”, - he said.
At the same time, individual countries, in order to achieve their own geopolitical goals, continued to try to have a negative impact on our country’s foreign policy course, added Alexi Batiashvili.
