In the framework of the official visit to Georgia, the Lithuanian Foreign Minister, Gabrielius Landsbergis met with the Georgian Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, David Zalkaliani.
Gabrielius welcomed the agreement reached between the Georgian Dream and the majority of the opposition mediated by the EU.
“We will not be hindered by internal political problems in terms of our strategic plans to make Georgia more secure, creating a more secure regional environment. We continue discussing the transatlantic dimension, of which Georgia sees itself as an integral part.” – stated Gabrielius Landsbergis.
As he told reporters at the end of his visit to Georgia, the agreement between the parties is not the finish line.
“The signing of the agreement document is an important step forward, although much remains to be done to address the issue of politicized justice, judicial and electoral reforms”, - said Landsbergis.
He also commended all the parties that have signed the agreement. In addition, Lithuanian FM called on Nika Melia to consider accepting the guarantees offered by European colleagues.
