The Foreign Ministry confirmed Ukraine’s principled position on non-interference in Georgia’s internal affairs.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine has issued a statement regarding the arrest of Mikheil Saakashvili - the agency emphasizes that they do not intend to interfere in the internal affairs of Georgia.

“On October 2, Georgia’s Chargé d’Affaires in Ukraine, Senior Adviser Sandro Topuria, was invited to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The diplomat informed about the circumstances of detention of Ukrainian citizen Mikheil Saakashvili in Georgia, the articles of the Georgian Criminal Code incriminated to him.

The Ukrainian side stressed the need to fully respect the legal rights of Mikheil Saakashvili, and requested that the Ukrainian consul visit him for consular and legal assistance”, - reads the statement.
