As a result of search and investigative activities, the officers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs seized illegal firearms and ammunition in Imereti and Kvemo Kartli regions at different times. Two persons have been arrested for illegal purchase-keeping and carrying of firearms and ammunition. Detainees are - M.K. (DoB1985) and V.G. (DoB1990).

The committed crime envisions from 4 to 7 years of imprisonment.

The officers of Zestaponi Police Division of Imereti, Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti Police Department seized Makarov system firearms, cartridge and 8 magazines as evidence as a result of search activities held in M.K’s vehicle.

As for V.G. he was stopped by Marneuli Police Division of Kvemo Kartli Police Department while driving near the village of Algeti, Marneuli Municipality. As a result of his personal search, the police seized Nagan system firearm with 6 magazines as evidence.

The fact of illegal purchase, storage and carrying of firearms and ammunition is being investigated under Article 236 paragraphs III, IV envisioned by the Criminal Code of Georgia.
