Today, the District Election Commissions (DEC) held the sessions and, in accordance with the law, by casting the lots randomly selected the election precincts at each election districts. The results of these election precincts will be counted today.
As Natia Ioseliani, the CEC spokeswoman stated at the news briefing today, the CEC chairperson addressed the District Election Commissions yesterday with an initiative and recommended to identify 7 polling stations at each election districts instead of 5 precincts for mandatory recounts.
“Today, at 17:00, in recount centers set at 29 locations, ballot papers will be recounted. The transparency and video recording of the process will be ensured.
The recount process can be attended and observed by authorized persons: observers, representatives of election subjects and the media.
We call upon all observers to exercise their rights and responsibilities in accordance with the law and assist the Election Administration in conducting the recount process in a calm and constructive environment.
The COVID regulations necessary for health safety will be fully followed in the recount centers.
The data processed as a result of the recount, as well as the video footage of the ballot recount process will be available on the official website of the CEC as soon as possible.
I would like to also note that in Krtsanisi election district where polling was conducted through electronic technologies, the recount process will not take place”, - said Ioseliani.
