Patriarch appeals Mikheil Saakashvili to end hunger strike

Catholicos - Patriarch Ilia II has called on jailed former President to end hunger strike.

Patriarch’s secretary Mikael Botkoveli, who visited Mikheil Saakashvili in prison, said that “it is an appeal and an advise of the Ilia II that [Saakashvili] finishes hunger strike”.

“I came to Mr. Mikheil Saakashvili again with the blessing of His Holiness, I have a letter to hand over to him.

The contents of the letter are about his principled position on the hunger strike. I would like to convey this letter and inquire about him on behalf of His Holiness. It is His Holiness"s request and advice to end the hunger strike”, - explained Mikael Botkoveli.
